The Early Life of Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday was born on 22 September 1791, his father was poor and worked as a blacksmith, and Michael Faraday’s family was very poor.

The struggle of Michael Faraday

At the age of 13, he started his life as a bookbinder in London. He used to tie books during the day and read them at night. This is where his passion for electricity started, Michael Faraday read many books during his 7-year apprenticeship, including ‘The Improvement of the Mind’ and he applied the principles and suggestions contained therein in his life.

After working as a bookbinder for many years, after turning 21, Faraday dreamed of going into a bigger world and he also got a chance to become big when a customer gave him a ticket for a show, the name of that show was ‘science for the public.

A career with Michael Faraday and Humphrey Davy

The Science for the Public Show started at the Royal Institution in London. Humphrey Davy was the host of the show, Humphrey Davy was a well-known scientist at that time. He was also an amazing showman. Humphrey Davy was demonstrating Electricity in his show where people were applauding for him but Faraday did not. He was engaged in writing every word of Davy’s speech, after which the written speech was tied in the form of a book.

In the book in which Davy’s speeches were written thought of giving to Davy, he felt that doing so would give him an opportunity to meet Davy, and in fact, this thought also led to Faraday’s arrival in a new world. I sent this 300-page book to Davy Davy’s reply was kind and friendly.

When Davy suffered an eye injury in a chemical experiment, he called Faraday and kept it with him as an assistant. When Davy could not understand his experiment, he asked Faraday and soon Faraday improved that experiment further and understood electromagnetism, and invented the world’s first motor, he converted electric current into continuous mechanical motion.

He had given that he generated an electromotive force by rotating a conductor in a magnetic field and made a generator on this principle.
The news of Faraday’s invention spread rapidly and within a few days, Faraday became popular in London. Davy did not like this, so Davy sent Faraday to the British Optical Glass Factory, saying that Faraday was to be found there by Joseph Fraunhofer’s optical Technology has to be known but Faraday kept bothering there for 40 years but he got nothing.

When Faraday returned to Davy, he had died. Then according to the law, Faraday became the director of Davy’s lab, Faraday used this power very well, and after that, he made many inventions.

Principle of Electromagnetic Induction

This was Faraday’s main discovery. In the year 1820, Hands-Oersted discover that a magnetic field could be produced by an electric current, so this invention gave Faraday the idea that if a magnetic effect could be produced by the flow of an electric current, why could an electric current not be produced by a magnetic effect. It is possible. For this, he did an experiment in which a coil of wire was made and placed near the magnet, but no electricity was generated in that coil.

After trying many times, he got a failure every time. Frustrated, one day he pull the coil from the magnet to throw it, and at the same time, electricity appear in the galvanometer, at that time Faraday came to know that if there is the required speed between the coil and the magnet, then electricity is generated in it. is called the principle of magnetic induction.
